Nearly Ten Years, and still going strong!

Cholmondeley Children’s Home has been looking after Canterbury kids in need for 83 years. And while other, similar homes around New Zealand have closed down due to a lack of funds, we have managed to stay open.

Why? How? What is it about Canterbury and Canterbarians that has ensured our survival, despite some pretty tough times?

You need go no further than to look at Ray Williams and the electrical firm of Williams Hickman Electrical . With their signature line ‘Setting the Standard’ they certainly have, not just in providing a high quality electrical service for their clients but also in epitomising everything that is good about supporting the community.

For nearly ten years Ray and his team of electricians have been providing support of one form or another to Cholmondeley. This ranges from the staff donating a weekly amount out of their wages which is matched dollar for dollar by the company , to guys coming in on their days off to wire up our new building.

It also ranges from talking with suppliers about donating equipment or giving us a good deal on electrical gear, to talking with other companies about getting involved in supporting Cholmondeley in various ways. All told, the amount of funding and support that Ray and his team have got for us either directly as a cheque, as in-kind assistance, or by talking others into supporting us would total many thousands of dollars.

Also, the work they do as electricians is absolutely first-class and highly professional. And they’re a bunch of really nice blokes too!

Thank you, Ray, and thank you to your team. Cholmondeley could not survive without such generous assistance. Please, if you have the chance. Support Ray and his team of wonderful Canterbarians who are looking after their community
